Okay, I love my current contract. It’s with a cool startup in Waterloo called aha insurance – that allows you to get a quote and to buy your insurance online in five minutes. Amazing really. But honestly, these working hours are taking some getting used to. They aren’t overly long. They just start just sooooo friggin early. Who needs to be in an office at 7:30? What is the point? I’m in marketing, not an emergency ward or some shit. There literally is no early breaking news!

My co-workers try to outdo one another with early morning emails showing they are awake at 5 am!

I truly am impressed with the effort, but seriously; wouldn’t we all function better if we, you know, could walk our dogs in sunlight? Our CMO admits that her brain stops functioning after 2 in the afternoon because she is so tired, yet there she is every morning, at her desk at the crack of way-too-early.

There are some benefits – like getting to leave at 4 and avoiding the worst of the traffic both ways… but man. Guess I’m not the morning person I once was.
