The Long Watch – Book I of the Watcher Series

The Long Watch – Book I of the Watcher Series

So, ya. I did the writing thing again. My first book was a mid-life crisis in book form, whining about my life and career stagnation in 2017, but told in an oh-so-amusing manner, with Time Travel & Beatles goodness sprinkled in.

This one is different, however, as it has nothing to do with me but rather a deep dive into loneliness and loss and again told in an oh-so-amusing manner, but this time with aliens and global armageddon. Just a whole bunch of fun, in other words.

Here are a few reviews as I wouldn’t believe me either…

Fantastic and fun. Hope to see more of Doris and Duncan.

A very well done fantasy SciFi with firm routes in human history, The Long Watch succeeds in putting intelligent humour into a genre that is often too dark to be entertaining. Not since Douglas Adams had Thor try to navigate an airline checkin kiosk in his Dirk Gently series have I laughed so much at the Gods. McDougald has brought us some great characters here in what he promises will be a series. I’m looking forward to the next instalment.

Not What You Expect In The Best Possible Way

I thought I had this book figured out within a few chapters, but McDougald zigged when I expected a zag. Then, I thought I had it figured out from there but he twisted when I expected a turn. This is a fun read filled with rich characters, including a hyper-intelligent dog, and enough sci-fi to whet your appetite and provide a clever explanation for the legends and mysteries of the past.

I wanted to let you know: PLEASE WRITE MORE BOOKS. Your style of writing and the way your characters talk, it cracks me up and makes me feel like I’m reading about old friends.
